In The Faerie Queene, there is an old hag who lives by the sea. In The Counterfet, a sorceress secludes herself in the forest, on the rocks overlooking the sea. Legends claim that she is no human, but a cursed monster: any living thing that lays eyes upon her hideous face will surely die from revulsion. Yet other stories claim that her beauty is fatal, stopping the hearts of men and women alike. Either way, she is always concealed with masks and shadows.

Her sorceress specialty is animation: her workshop is alive with autonomous tools. She created her Beast, and of course, her most wondrous work of all: False Flora.
