In The Faerie Queene, Archimagio is a malicious wizard. In The Counterfet, his character is combined with the Devil, who appears to imbue False Flora with life. He is written this way to help extend his relationship with the Witch (False Flora’s creator): they are both sorcerous supernatural characters.
